In Norse culture, Thor's hammer Mjölnir is an iconic weapon of the Nordic God of Thunder. By legends, this hammer was the most powerful weapon in existence, capable of leveling mountains with a single blow. Being one of the most prominent representations of Thor and his godly strength, the iconography of this weapon was widely popular amongst the Norse and was used widely for religious practices and rituals. Akin to the crucifix, Mjölnir was used for blessing the holy events such as marriage or worn by Nordic warriors to grant them strength and protection in battle.
An axe was every Viking’s trusty tool and often a reliable weapon of choice. When it came to managing and repairing their ships, longboats, made in their entirety of wood, axes were a must have for every one of those ancient naval warriors. When on land, axes were used to fell trees for fires, building basic defenses, or ship repairs. Versatile for the Viking lifestyle, this weapon and tool was always on hand while on a journey, ready to be used for both felling trees and foes alike.
This bound leather bracelet takes inspiration from the Viking bracers worn in combat, and it comes complete with a wolf's head charm plate. Bracers were mostly used by archers to protect their forearm from the bowstring but were also often worn by warriors to support and protect their wrists, a weak joint that if failed would easily mean doom on the battlefield. This leather bracelet can be easily worn and adjusted via a clasp on the back of the bracelet and is available in several leather and metal colors.
Wolves play a major role in Norse mythology, as Odin created the first wolves to act as his companions during his travels. He named his new canine companions Geki and Freki, the ravenous and the greedy one, who slowly populated the world with their offspring during Odin’s journeys. First humans were said to learn from Geki and Freki on how to cooperate during hunts and care for their close ones. Wolves were iconic of strength and community in Nordic culture and were often depicted in religious drawings or carved on everyday items and charms.
